Alfuzosin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the gist for Alfuzosin (Uroxatral): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down. Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil can gently speed up that same enzyme. So in theory, taking the two together could clear alfuzosin out a little faster, which might leave you with weaker relief and a return of those frustrating BPH symptoms like a slow stream, dribbling, or needing to go often.

I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not strong real-world data, and modafinil's effect here is fairly weak. Still, since adrafinil is unregulated and tough on the liver, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

What Is Alfuzosin Used For?

Brand name: Uroxatral

Alfuzosin is used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that can make urination difficult. It helps relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck so urine can flow more easily.

It is not approved to treat high blood pressure, and it is not for use in children or women.
