This old combo product (Amesec) pairs a stimulant theophylline with ephedrine and a sedative barbiturate, amobarbital. The piece that matters here is the amobarbital, a barbiturate that calms the nervous system. Tree turmeric, through its berberine content, has shown mild sedative effects in animal studies. Stacked together, the worry is simply additive drowsiness, so you might feel sleepier, foggier, or more lightheaded than usual.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it is theoretical, based on lab and animal work, not solid human data. It's a real consideration but not a reason to panic. If you take this medication, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree turmeric, especially since concentrated berberine supplements are far stronger than any culinary amount.
