Here's the wrinkle with this combo product: the part to watch is the codeine. Codeine is a prodrug, meaning your body has to convert it into morphine using an enzyme called CYP2D6 before it can relieve much pain. Berberine, the active compound in tree turmeric, appears to slow down that same enzyme.

So in theory, taking tree turmeric alongside this medicine could leave less codeine turned into morphine, which may mean weaker pain relief. The aspirin and the antacids (aluminum and magnesium hydroxide) aren't really affected here. Keep in mind this is based on limited, lower-quality evidence, so it may not be a big deal for everyone. Still, if your pain isn't well controlled, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

The piece of this combo product that matters here is the aspirin. Aspirin already thins the blood by keeping platelets from clumping together. Tree turmeric (through its berberine) may nudge platelets in the same direction, so stacking the two could, in theory, make bleeding a little more likely. Think easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a cut that takes longer to stop.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it comes only from lab and animal studies, not from people, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Still, because aspirin is involved, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree turmeric, rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.
