Theoretically, taking tree turmeric along with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can have hypotensive effects. Also, a meta-analysis of clinical research suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine (Norvasc) can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with taking amlodipine alone.

Here's the gist for Tracleer (bosentan). Tree turmeric's main ingredient, berberine, may gently lower blood pressure on its own. Bosentan, while used for lung-related high blood pressure, also relaxes blood vessels throughout your body. So stacking the two could push your blood pressure down a little more than expected. That might leave you feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or tired, especially when you stand up quickly.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this concern comes mostly from animal studies and weaker research, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, since you're managing a serious condition, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree turmeric, rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.

Here's the gist: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to help break down and clear bosentan. The berberine in tree turmeric appears to slow that enzyme down. If it's working less efficiently, bosentan can build up a bit more than expected, which could mean stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects like low blood pressure, dizziness, headache, fluid retention (swollen ankles), or flushing.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical and rests on early, lower-quality evidence, so I wouldn't panic. Still, bosentan already needs careful monitoring (including liver checks), so it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a concentrated berberine supplement. Please don't start, stop, or change anything on your own.

Here's the gist for Bosentan (Tracleer). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break this medicine down. The berberine in tree turmeric can slow that enzyme down a bit, so in theory bosentan could clear out of your body more slowly and build up higher than usual.

If that happens, you might notice more of bosentan's typical side effects, like headache, flushing, swelling in your legs or ankles, or feeling lightheaded. Because bosentan can also stress the liver, a higher level is something worth being careful about. The evidence here is mostly lab-based and theoretical, so please don't start or stop anything on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially since they already monitor your liver while you take this.

What Is Bosentan Used For?

Brand name: Tracleer

Bosentan is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. In adults, it helps improve the ability to exercise and slows how quickly the disease gets worse.

In children aged 3 years and older with idiopathic (no known cause) or congenital (present from birth) PAH, bosentan is used to lower resistance in the lung blood vessels, which is expected to improve exercise ability. Tracleer is one brand approved for both adults and pediatric patients with PAH.
