Glipizide, Metformin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can inhibit CYP2C9.

Here's the thing with this combo (Metaglip is glipizide plus metformin). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear out the glipizide part. Berberine, the active piece of tree turmeric, appears to slow that enzyme down. So glipizide could hang around longer and hit harder than usual.

For you, that mostly means a higher chance of your blood sugar dropping too low. Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or sudden hunger. On top of that, both berberine and metformin already nudge blood sugar down on their own, so the effect can stack. The evidence here is still fairly early and somewhat theoretical, so don't panic, but please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding tree turmeric.

Theoretically, tree turmeric, taken alone or in combination with milk thistle, might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in patients taking antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that taking a product containing tree turmeric and milk thistle extracts can lower blood glucose levels, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes, including those on antidiabetic agents. Additionally, clinical research suggests that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can lower blood glucose levels.

Here's the thing to keep an eye on: your Metaglip already pulls double duty to lower blood sugar. Glipizide nudges your pancreas to release more insulin, and metformin helps your body use sugar better. Tree turmeric (mainly its berberine) lowers blood sugar too. Stack them together and the effects can add up, which can push your blood sugar too low.

This isn't a wild guess. Good human studies show berberine and tree turmeric products genuinely bring blood sugar and HbA1c down. So watch for hypoglycemia: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or confusion. Don't stop or change anything on your own. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor first, since they may want to check your numbers and adjust your dose.
