Here's the gist with Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim) and tree turmeric. The sulfamethoxazole half is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Berberine, the active compound in tree turmeric, may slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, that could let sulfamethoxazole linger a little longer in your body, nudging up the chance of side effects like nausea, rash, or sun sensitivity.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is mostly theoretical, based on early and lower-quality research, so it may not cause real trouble for most people on a short antibiotic course. Still, since Bactrim already carries some risk on its own, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two, rather than guessing.
