Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Alprazolam (Xanax) already calms the brain to ease anxiety and panic, and wild lettuce has been used traditionally to relax people and help with sleep. Put them together and those calming effects may simply stack on top of each other.

So in plain terms, you could feel more drowsy, dizzy, foggy, or unsteady than usual. I'll be honest though, this concern is mostly theoretical, based on how the herb seems to work in lab and animal studies rather than strong human research. It isn't about your body breaking the drug down differently, just the two sedating effects adding up. Still, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially before driving.

What Is Alprazolam Used For?

Brand names: Xanax, Niravam

Alprazolam treats generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia, in adults. These uses are supported across multiple alprazolam products, including tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, oral solution, and extended-release tablets.

Xanax (tablet) is indicated for the acute treatment of GAD and for panic disorder. Xanax XR (extended-release tablet) and alprazolam extended-release tablets are indicated specifically for panic disorder with or without agoraphobia — not for GAD. Alprazolam orally disintegrating tablets and alprazolam oral solution are indicated for both GAD and panic disorder.
