ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine
Chlorpheniramine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Wild Lettuce interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Chlorpheniramine is an older antihistamine that already carries its own drying, anticholinergic effects, so it can leave you with a dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, drowsiness, or a bit of dizziness. Wild lettuce may add a little anticholinergic activity of its own, and it can also be calming on its own.
Stacking the two together could simply amplify those effects, so you'd feel more parched, foggy, or sleepy than you would from the medicine alone. I'll be honest though, the evidence here is thin and mostly tied to people taking large amounts of wild lettuce. A normal allergy dose with a modest supplement is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Chlorpheniramine page
“An over-the-counter allergy pill sounds harmless, but chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton) has one of the longer supplement interaction lists I review, and it calls for real vigilance, with the major-rated entries the ones to understand first. Most of the list can shift how the body clears the drug: grapefruit can raise its levels while St.”

About Wild Lettuce

- Cough and respiratory symptoms
- Muscle spasms
Wild lettuce is a traditional herb used mainly for sleep, anxiety, and pain, but solid human research supporting these uses is very limited. Because its safety is not well studied, it should be used cautiously, avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding, and discussed with your pharmacist or doctor first.
