BroccoCap Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking BroccoCap against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of BroccoCap by Intensive Nutrition
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
BroccoCap contains three active ingredients: sulforaphane (a compound from broccoli known for its potential anti-inflammatory properties), broccoli powder, and daikon (a type of radish). Together they're meant to deliver the bioactive constituents found in cruciferous vegetables—glucosinolates and their breakdown products—in concentrated form.
The product also contains inactive ingredients: dried broccoli, daikon, and magnesium stearate (a binder).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for BroccoCap's ingredients is mixed and incomplete. Sulforaphane is rated possibly effective for prostate cancer, but the evidence for hay fever, asthma, and general cancer prevention is insufficient to say whether it works.
Broccoli is rated possibly effective for colorectal cancer, though the evidence for breast cancer, lung cancer, heart disease, and other cancers is also insufficient. Daikon (radish) has no established evidence for either diabetes or biliary disorders in the data we hold.
In short, the strongest case here is for prostate and colorectal cancer, but don't expect this to be a proven cure—the evidence is preliminary.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sulforaphane from food is considered safe, but concentrated supplements like this one are less studied for long-term use. The main side effects reported are bowel discomfort, heartburn, stomach upset, vomiting, and headache.
A small number of trial participants taking sulforaphane experienced insomnia or irritability; two cases of seizure have been reported in males with autism, and one study found participants gained an average of 4 pounds extra over 18 weeks compared to placebo. Broccoli as a food is well tolerated, but concentrated extracts can cause loose stools, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and cramping at high doses.
Daikon in normal food amounts is safe, though large amounts may irritate your digestive tract or cause indigestion. Because this is a concentrated supplement, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting if you have a history of seizures, digestive issues, or diabetes.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start BroccoCap, double-check any medications your body processes through these liver enzymes: CYP3A4 substrates (sulforaphane may raise their levels), CYP1A2 and CYP2A6 substrates (broccoli may lower their effects), and CYP2E1 substrates (sulforaphane may raise their levels). Also tell your pharmacist if you take diabetes drugs, because daikon may lower your blood sugar.
If you take seizure medications or have a history of seizures, discuss this product with your doctor first.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
BroccoCap might appeal to you if you're interested in concentrated cruciferous vegetable compounds and you're not taking medications metabolized by your liver. If you take any prescription drugs—especially those for diabetes, heart rhythm, mental health, or cancer—you need to check them against this product before starting, because the interactions are numerous and potentially serious.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it fits your individual situation.

BroccoCap by Intensive Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BroccoCap by Intensive Nutrition contains three active ingredients—sulforaphane, broccoli, and daikon—that together interact with a wide range of medications.
The most serious interaction is sulforaphane's effect on drugs metabolized by your liver's CYP3A4 enzyme (a major family of medications); sulforaphane may increase their levels and effects, which could cause overdose-like symptoms.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Broccoli in this product can reduce how well your body processes drugs that rely on two liver enzymes: CYP1A2 and CYP2A6. This means certain medications may become less effective at their prescribed doses.
The effect on CYP2A6 is particularly strong—broccoli can boost that enzyme's activity significantly. Daikon (radish) adds another concern: it may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you take diabetes medications.
Sulforaphane also theoretically affects CYP1A2 and CYP2E1 substrates in ways that haven't been tested in humans yet. Altogether, these interactions span 806 individual medications.
Because this product has multiple overlapping effects on how your liver processes drugs, you'll want to run your exact medications through the checker on this page before you start.

For each ingredient in BroccoCap with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sulforaphane
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might alter the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, its precursor glucoraphanin also appears to increase the expression of the CYP1A2 enzyme, which could lead to increased metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates. These effects have not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP2E1 substrates.
In vitro evidence shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP2E1 enzymes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity and downregulates its expression. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Broccoli
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of fresh broccoli daily for 6-12 days can increase CYP1A2 activity by 10% to 200%. Induction of CYP1A2 activity by broccoli is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
Cytochrome P450 2A6 (Cyp2A6) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2A6.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of broccoli daily for 6 days increases CYP2A6 activity by 135% to 550%. Induction of CYP2A6 activity is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
Daikon
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, radish might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research shows that radish extract, juice, and sprouts can reduce glucose levels. Animal research also shows that radish root juice 300 mg/kg reduces fasting and postprandial blood glucose in a rat model of diabetes, with effects similar to glibenclamide.
