Flora 32 Billion CFU Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Flora 32 Billion CFU against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Flora 32 Billion CFU contains 20 active ingredients: three digestive enzymes (lactase, lipase, and cellulase) to help break down food, a blend of nine probiotic bacterial strains including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species, and additional enzyme and probiotic components in proprietary blends. Lactase helps people digest milk sugars if they're lactose intolerant.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—rice flour, vegetable cellulose (the capsule material), and silicon dioxide—which serve as fillers or binders.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Lactase is rated effective for lactose intolerance, so if you have trouble digesting dairy, this ingredient should help. Several probiotic strains in the formula—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium longum—are rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and antibiotic-associated diarrhea; L. acidophilus is also possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori and bacterial vaginosis.
However, most of the other strains and the enzyme components show insufficient evidence or were not rated in our data. The evidence we hold does not establish whether this product works for digestive health broadly—only for the specific conditions listed above.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most of the active ingredients are generally well tolerated in healthy adults. However, a few cautions apply.
Lactase has rarely caused contact dermatitis or allergic reactions in people exposed to powdered forms. Lipase and the live probiotic strains carry a small risk of serious infection (bacteremia, sepsis) in critically ill or immunocompromised people—if you have a severely weakened immune system or are hospitalized, check with your doctor before use.
Proteases may occasionally cause digestive upset or allergic reactions. For pregnancy, lactase is rated likely safe; Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly safe; Bifidobacterium longum and Streptococcus thermophilus are possibly safe; but lipase has limited safety data and proteases should be avoided unless prescribed by your doctor.
For breastfeeding, safety data are limited across most ingredients—talk to your doctor or pharmacist first.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Take special care with antibiotic drugs: the live probiotics in this product (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, and Lactobacillus gasseri) may lose effectiveness if taken at the same time as antibiotics. Separate your antibiotic dose from this supplement by several hours if you can, and confirm the timing with your doctor or pharmacist.
No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Flora 32 Billion CFU is a multi-strain probiotic with digestive enzymes—useful if you have lactose intolerance or IBS, or if you're taking antibiotics and want to protect your gut bacteria. If you're on antibiotics, space them out from this supplement as much as possible.
If you have a weakened immune system, are seriously ill, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
