HMF Multistrain Powder Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Genestra Brands
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking HMF Multistrain Powder against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
HMF Multistrain Powder contains 16 active probiotic ingredients — beneficial bacteria strains including several species of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. These live organisms are meant to support your gut health.
The powder also contains potato maltodextrin as an inactive ingredient (a processing aid).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product is mixed and varies by strain. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. For most of the other strains in this formula — including Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus gasseri — the evidence isn't yet established for the conditions we have data on, so we can't say whether they work.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most of the checked probiotic strains in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, probiotics carry some caution: in rare cases, live bacteria can cause infection (bacteremia or sepsis), particularly in people who are very ill or have weakened immune systems.
On your own, you might notice mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea — but these are uncommon. Very rarely, rash and itching have been reported with probiotic combinations.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding: Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation. We don't have safety data on file for the other ingredients in this regard, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
The main medication type to watch is antibiotics. If you take any antibiotic, space your doses apart from this powder — your pharmacist can tell you the right timing.
Before starting, run your full medication list through the checker on this page to confirm nothing else is affected.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic meant to support gut health. If you take antibiotics, you'll need to separate them from this powder to keep it effective.
If you're seriously ill or immune-compromised, check with your doctor first. Talk to your pharmacist about whether this product fits your situation and to confirm none of your medications are affected.

HMF Multistrain Powder by Genestra Brands Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
HMF Multistrain Powder by Genestra Brands contains multiple probiotic strains, several of which interact with antibiotics.
The most significant concern is that antibiotic drugs may reduce the effectiveness of the live organisms in this product. Lactobacillus acidophilus (both the CUL and NCFM strains), Bifidobacterium longum (both versions), Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus gasseri all show Moderate interactions with antibiotics because these medications can kill the beneficial bacteria you're trying to take.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Several other ingredients in this formula we could not check for interactions: Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis (the CUL-62 and HN-019 strains), Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus fermentum, and Lactobacillus casei. We hold no interaction data for these, so we can't tell you whether they interact with any medications.
Additionally, if you're taking antibiotics, you'll want to space them apart from this powder — your pharmacist can advise on timing. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Use the medication checker below to see if any of your current drugs are affected.
