The data shows some of these strains have possible effectiveness for specific uses. L. acidophilus (in two forms here) is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
B. bifidum (both forms) is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For many other uses—allergic rhinitis, asthma, common cold, and others—the evidence is currently insufficient to rate these strains.
Overall, while the blend may help with certain digestive and vaginal health issues, the data for most of the conditions tracked are not yet established.

These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, because they contain live and active organisms, there's a theoretical concern they could cause infection in certain patients—particularly those who are severely ill, immunocompromised, have central venous catheters, or are very young.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea have been reported, though they're uncommon. Rare cases of rash and itching occurred in one clinical trial, though it's unclear whether the probiotics or another factor was responsible.
For pregnancy, L. acidophilus, B. bifidum, and S. thermophilus are rated possibly safe. Data on L. delbrueckii, L. gasseri, B. breve, and B. longum during pregnancy is insufficient—talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus delbrueckii with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. delbrueckii.
Lactobacillus delbrueckii preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. delbrueckii preparations by at least two hours.
L. gasseri Lg-36
