What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotics 50 Billion CFU against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 21 ingredients, of which the active ones are live bacterial strains — Bifidobacterium species (B. breve, B. bifidum, B. infantis, B. longum, B. lactis, B. adolescentis), Lactobacillus species (L. rhamnosus, L. plantarum, L. reuteri, L. bulgaricus, L. helveticus, L. acidophilus, L. gasseri, L. paracasei, L. casei, L. salivarius, L. crispatus), Leuconostoc mesenteroides, Lactococcus lactis, and Streptococcus thermophilus — plus a Proprietary Probiotics Blend and Premium Prebiotic Fiber Blend. The inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose (a filler) and a vegetable capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence on effectiveness is mixed across conditions. L. acidophilus, B. bifidum, and L. crispatus are rated Possibly Effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), respiratory tract infections, and bacterial vaginosis, respectively.
L. acidophilus is also rated Possibly Effective for Helicobacter pylori infection and antibiotic-associated diarrhea. For most other conditions — including cognitive decline, allergies, asthma, anxiety, and common cold — the evidence we have is either Insufficient or, in a few cases, points to Possibly Ineffective.
The ingredients we could not check have no effectiveness data on file for us either.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most of the checked ingredients are generally well tolerated in healthy people. However, probiotics carry important cautions.
Rare cases of bacterial bloodstream infections (bacteremia) and blood poisoning (sepsis) have been reported in very ill or immunocompromised patients, including critically ill infants and adults — especially with Bifidobacterium species and Lactobacillus species. Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort are uncommon but have been reported with probiotic use.
For pregnancy, B. bifidum and L. acidophilus are rated Possibly Safe; B. longum and Streptococcus thermophilus are Possibly Safe during both pregnancy and lactation. L. bulgaricus, L. helveticus, L. gasseri, and L. crispatus have insufficient pregnancy and lactation data on file.
Because probiotics are live organisms and safety data are limited, especially for people with weakened immune systems or serious illness, check with your doctor before starting them.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you're on antibiotics, you'll want to double-check this with your pharmacist. Antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in the probiotic, making it less effective — Moderate severity.
The best move is to separate your antibiotic dose from the probiotic by several hours. We have no documented interactions for the other ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may be worth considering if you have IBS, are recovering from antibiotics, or are dealing with certain vaginal or gut infections — those are the uses with some supporting evidence. If you're healthy with a normal immune system, probiotics are generally well tolerated.
Be cautious if you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, have indwelling catheters, or are on antibiotics — talk with your doctor or pharmacist first, especially about timing antibiotics away from the probiotic.

Probiotics 50 Billion CFU by NewRhythm Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
NewRhythm Probiotics 50 Billion CFU interacts with antibiotics through several of its live bacterial strains — B. breve, B. bifidum, B. longum, L. bulgaricus, L. helveticus, L. acidophilus, L. gasseri, and L. crispatus.
The interaction is Moderate in severity: antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the probiotic, reducing how well the probiotic works. Taking them at the same time may significantly decrease the probiotic's effectiveness.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, we could not check L. rhamnosus, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, L. plantarum, B. infantis, L. reuteri, B. lactis, Lactococcus lactis, L. paracasei, L. casei, L. salivarius, B. adolescentis, or the Premium Prebiotic Fiber Blend — we hold no interaction data for these ingredients. Streptococcus thermophiles was checked and shows no documented interactions.
Additionally, the simplest approach if you're on antibiotics is to space them out: take your antibiotic at one time of day and the probiotic several hours apart. Check with your own doctor or pharmacist about the best timing for your specific medications.
