Smart PS Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Smart PS against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Smart PS by Pure Nootropics
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Smart PS has five active ingredients, with phosphatidylserine as the standout. Phosphatidylserine is a naturally occurring compound that plays a role in cell membranes and is thought to support cognitive function, particularly in age-related decline and Alzheimer's disease.
The other four ingredients — polyunsaturated fat, phosphatidylcholine, unsaturated fat, and monounsaturated fat — are fatty compounds that support cell health and brain function. The capsule itself is made from gelatin, glycerin, purified water, and polyglycitol syrup as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
For phosphatidylserine, the evidence suggests it may be effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease. For everything else in this product — athletic performance, ADHD, cognitive function in general, and dementia — the evidence isn't solid enough to rate.
Phosphatidylcholine shows possibly effective evidence for ulcerative colitis, but not enough reliable data to rate it for liver disease, Alzheimer's disease, or anxiety. Overall, this product's most established use is around aging-related cognitive issues, but don't expect dramatic results — the evidence is "possibly effective," not proven.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated, but long-term safety hasn't been fully studied. The most common side effects are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea.
Insomnia is more likely at higher doses (600 mg), and gastrointestinal upset can show up at 200-300 mg daily. Phosphatidylcholine is also generally well tolerated in typical supplement doses, though high doses can cause digestive upset.
We don't have enough safety data during pregnancy or breastfeeding for either ingredient to say it's okay — talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticholinergic drugs — medications that block acetylcholine — phosphatidylserine may reduce how well they work (Moderate concern). Also double-check if you're on cholinergic drugs that boost acetylcholine; this product could add to their effect (Moderate concern).
Use the search tool here to verify your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Smart PS is designed for brain health, especially if you're concerned about age-related cognitive decline. It's generally well tolerated, but if you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, check with us first — those interactions matter.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: talk to your pharmacist before starting. Most important: run your medications through our checker on this page.

Smart PS by Pure Nootropics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Smart PS by Pure Nootropics contains phosphatidylserine, which has documented interactions with certain medications.
The main concern is with anticholinergic drugs (medications that block acetylcholine), where phosphatidylserine may theoretically decrease their effectiveness. This is a Moderate severity interaction — the concern is that phosphatidylserine raises acetylcholine levels, which could work against what these drugs are meant to do.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Phosphatidylserine also has a Moderate interaction with cholinergic drugs (medications that boost acetylcholine). Taking this product with those drugs could lead to additive cholinergic effects — essentially doubling down on the same pathway.
We could not check three other ingredients in this product: polyunsaturated fat, monounsaturated fat, and phosphatidylethanolamine — we hold no interaction data for them. Phosphatidylcholine, another ingredient, was checked and shows no interactions documented in our data, though that's not a guarantee none exist.
Altogether, these interactions span 218 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to run through your exact prescriptions before you start.
