Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

TestoPlex Plus contains two active ingredients. PrimaVie is a purified form of shilajit, a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine.

LJ100 is an extract of eurycoma longifolia root, also called Tongkat Ali. The product also includes several inactive ingredients—hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, ascorbyl palmitate, silica, and water—that serve as capsule material, binders, and preservatives.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: support vitality and general physical mental well-being.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

The evidence for what TestoPlex Plus does is limited. For LJ100, there is possibly effective evidence for sexual desire—some studies suggest it may help.

For shilajit (PrimaVie), the data we hold shows insufficient evidence for sexual function, athletic performance, bone density (osteopenia), and cognitive health (Alzheimer disease). Neither ingredient has strong evidence for benign prostate enlargement (BPH) or diabetes.

In short, if sexual desire is your main concern, LJ100 has modest support; for other uses, the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Both ingredients are generally well tolerated in short-term use, but long-term safety isn't fully known. Shilajit carries a critical caveat: only use purified, tested brands to avoid heavy metals and contaminants.

Rare side effects from shilajit include headache. One case of severe allergy (anaphylaxis) has been reported, and one case of high blood pressure related to abnormal hormone levels occurred during pregnancy, though a causal link couldn't be confirmed.

LJ100 is generally well tolerated in studies, but if it raises testosterone beyond normal range, there's a theoretical risk of acne, insulin resistance, and liver effects.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 2 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Eurycoma Longifolia, Shilajit.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 333 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take TestoPlex Plus, check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take antidiabetes drugs (like metformin or glibenclamide)—shilajit can lower blood sugar and boost how well they work, raising hypoglycemia risk. If you take propranolol for blood pressure or your heart, LJ100 may reduce its effectiveness.

Additionally, if you take drugs processed through CYP1A2, CYP2C19, or CYP2A6 liver pathways, or if you're on testosterone replacement, LJ100 could theoretically affect levels—though human evidence is limited. Use the medication checker on this page to see your specific drugs.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

TestoPlex Plus may be worth considering if you're interested in the modest evidence for LJ100 and sexual desire, but it's not your move if you take antidiabetes drugs, propranolol, or medications processed through certain liver enzymes without checking first. Pregnant or breastfeeding?

The safety data advises against both ingredients during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product makes sense for you and your current medications.

Propranolol (Inderal)

Eurycoma longifolia can reduce the levels and clinical effects of propranolol.
A small clinical study in healthy persons shows that taking a single dose of a water-based Eurycoma longifolia extract 200 mg, in combination with a single dose of propranolol 80 mg, reduces the propranolol area under the curve (AUC) by 29%, reduces the peak concentration by 42%, and increases time to peak concentration by 86% when compared with control. Since the elimination half-life of propranolol did not change, it seems that Eurycoma longifolia alters the kinetics of propranolol by decreasing its absorption in the gut, and not by altering its metabolism. It is not known if separating administration will prevent this interaction.

Likelihood Probable Evidence A
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 2A6 (Cyp2A6) Substrates

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels of CYP2A6 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP2A6 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP2C19 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Testosterone

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia may further increase levels of testosterone.
A clinical study in aging males with testosterone levels below 300 ng/dL shows that taking a specific water extract of Eurycoma longifolia roots (Physta; Biotropics Malaysia) 100-200 mg daily with breakfast for 12 weeks increases total testosterone levels by 8% to 11% when compared with placebo. It is unclear whether this increase would occur in individuals with normal testosterone levels.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D

PrimaVie1 drug type · 86 drugs

Antidiabetes Drugs

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.

TestoPlex Plus by XYMOGEN: Common Questions

Does TestoPlex Plus by XYMOGEN interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, TestoPlex Plus has a known interaction with 333 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
TestoPlex Plus contains 2 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take TestoPlex Plus if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. The safety data advises against shilajit (PrimaVie) during pregnancy because of contamination risk and insufficient safety data. LJ100 (eurycoma longifolia) is also not recommended during pregnancy due to possible hormonal effects. Neither ingredient has reliable safety information for breastfeeding, so both are best avoided. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you.
Does TestoPlex Plus actually work for sexual function?
LJ100 has possibly effective evidence for sexual desire—some studies support it—but that's the stronger claim we can make. Shilajit's evidence for sexual dysfunction is insufficient; we don't have enough data to say it works. Results vary, and it's worth discussing with your doctor whether this product fits your situation.
What's in this capsule besides the active ingredients?
The capsule contains hypromellose (the capsule material itself), plus microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, ascorbyl palmitate, silica, and water. These are all inactive ingredients—binders, fillers, and preservatives that keep the product stable. None are active drugs.
Is PrimaVie the same as regular shilajit I might buy elsewhere?
PrimaVie is a purified form of shilajit, and that matters: unpurified shilajit can contain heavy metals or contaminants, which is why the safety data strongly recommends using only purified, tested brands like PrimaVie. Don't assume all shilajit products are equally safe.
I take metformin for diabetes. Can I use TestoPlex Plus?
Not without checking first. Shilajit in TestoPlex Plus can lower blood sugar and may boost how well metformin works, which raises the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product—they can help you decide if it's safe for you and whether you'd need extra monitoring.
What's the most common side effect?
Rare headache has been reported with shilajit in clinical research. One severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) has been documented. If you develop hives, difficulty breathing, or other allergy signs after taking it, seek emergency care right away.
