HelloPharmacist Scorecard of White Mulberry Extract by BulkSupplements.com
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
White Mulberry Extract by BulkSupplements.com is a powder with one active ingredient: white mulberry leaf extract. There are no inactive ingredients listed for this product.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for white mulberry leaf extract isn't established for the conditions we have data on. Our records show insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for hair loss (androgenic alopecia), bone health (osteoporosis), colds, blood sugar control (diabetes), or cholesterol (hyperlipidemia).
That doesn't mean it won't work — it means the clinical evidence so far isn't solid enough to make a confident claim either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
White mulberry leaf powder is generally well tolerated when taken orally. The most common side effects are mild digestive ones: bloating, flatulence, constipation, and loose stools.
In one clinical study at 4.6 grams three times daily, about half the patients reported bloating or gas, a quarter had loose stools, and about one in five had constipation — but these effects often eased over the 12-week study, suggesting they may be temporary. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the safety data isn't there.
The facts advise against medicinal amounts during pregnancy and lactation. If you're pregnant or nursing and interested in this product, talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs (insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or others), monitor your blood glucose closely — white mulberry leaf can lower it further and raise the risk of low blood sugar. Also double-check any medications that are OCT2 substrates (drugs processed through the kidneys), as the extract may slow their clearance.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
White mulberry extract may be worth considering if you're curious about its effects on blood sugar or cholesterol — though the evidence isn't yet solid. If you take diabetes medications or drugs processed through the kidneys, check with your pharmacist first, especially to watch for low blood sugar.
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding should discuss it with their doctor before starting.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
White Mulberry Extract by BulkSupplements.com contains one active ingredient — white mulberry leaf extract — which has documented interactions with medications that lower blood sugar and certain kidney-related drugs.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The main concern is with antidiabetes drugs (Moderate severity). White mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels on its own, so taking it alongside diabetes medications may raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
You'll want to monitor your blood glucose closely if you're on insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or other diabetes medications.
There's also a Moderate interaction with OCT2 substrates — a class of drugs processed through the kidneys. Animal research shows white mulberry leaf may slow how your kidneys clear these medications, potentially raising their levels in your body.
Metformin is a common example. Altogether, these interactions span 86 individual medications.
Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the checker on this page, especially if you take anything for blood sugar or kidney function.

White Mulberry Leaf Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that white mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely.
Organic Cation Transporter 2 (Oct2) Substrates
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might slow the elimination and increase the adverse effects of drugs which are OCT2 substrates.
Animal research shows that coadministration of white mulberry leaf extract with metformin, an OCT2 substrate, slows the renal elimination of metformin via inhibition of OCT2 activity. OCT2 is expressed in the kidneys and is responsible for transporting cationic drugs into tubular epithelial cells in order to be excreted in the urine.
