Bisoprolol, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group 1,3-dmaa interacts with.

1,3-DMAA strongly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) enzymes in vitro. Theoretically, 1,3-DMAA can increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the thing I'd want you to know first: 1,3-DMAA isn't something I'd recommend at all. The FDA pulled it from supplements because it's been tied to dangerous spikes in blood pressure, heart rhythm problems, strokes, and even deaths. That alone is a big concern when you're on Ziac, which is a blood pressure medicine.

On top of that safety issue, lab studies suggest DMAA can block an enzyme (CYP2D6) that helps clear the bisoprolol part of your pill. In theory, that could let bisoprolol build up, leading to a very slow heart rate, dizziness, lightheadedness, or fatigue. But this is a stimulant fighting against your blood pressure pill, so it can also push your pressure and heart rate the wrong way. Please don't use DMAA, and check with your pharmacist or doctor.
