Metharbital (Gemonil) is a barbiturate, which means its main job is to calm down brain activity. On its own it can make you feel drowsy, foggy, or slowed down. 5-HTP, while not a sedative drug, has caused drowsiness and sleepiness for some people in studies. So the concern here is simple: stacking the two could add up and leave you feeling more sleepy, more sluggish, or less alert than usual.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical caution based on how both behave, not something proven to happen often. Still, with a barbiturate, extra drowsiness is worth respecting, especially before driving. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, rather than changing anything on your own.
