Naratriptan falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group 5-htp interacts with.

Combining serotonergic drugs with 5-HTP might cause additive serotonergic effects.
5-HTP can increase serotonin levels and cause serotonergic effects. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with 5-HTP might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. However, serotonin syndrome with 5-HTP has not yet been reported in humans. Monitor patients for signs of serotonin syndrome and other serotonergic side effects if using 5-HTP with serotonergic drugs.

Here's the simple version: naratriptan (Amerge) works on serotonin pathways to ease a migraine, and 5-HTP nudges your body to make more serotonin too. Stack them together and, in theory, you could end up with too much serotonin activity. That's what we call serotonin syndrome, and signs include feeling agitated or restless, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, or shakiness.

I want to be honest about how strong this concern is. It's based on how these two work on paper, not on real cases, and serotonin syndrome from 5-HTP hasn't actually been reported in people. So I'm not trying to scare you. Still, before you pair them, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on you.

Naratriptan tablets are used to treat migraine attacks as they happen — with or without aura (the visual or sensory changes that can come before a migraine). It works during an active attack, not as a daily preventive medication.

It is not approved to prevent migraines from starting, and it has not been shown to work for cluster headaches. A confirmed diagnosis of migraine should be in place before using it.
