Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might increase plasma concentrations of CYP2D6 substrates.
Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline alkaloids, including harmine and harmaline. In vitro research suggests that the beta-carboline alkaloids might inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the wrinkle with Vicoprofen (hydrocodone plus ibuprofen): the hydrocodone part is actually a prodrug. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert it into hydromorphone, which provides a good chunk of the pain relief. Lab studies suggest the beta-carboline compounds in ayahuasca (harmine and harmaline) can block CYP2D6.

If that blocking happened in people, you might convert less hydrocodone into its active form, so you could get weaker pain control. Keep in mind this is only test-tube evidence and hasn't been shown in humans. Honestly, the bigger concern is mixing a strong opioid with ayahuasca's MAOI activity, which can be dangerous on its own. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining these.

Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline alkaloids. In vitro research suggests that beta-carboline alkaloids competitively inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Vicoprofen, which pairs hydrocodone with ibuprofen. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process the hydrocodone part. Lab studies hint that the beta-carboline compounds in ayahuasca can block that enzyme, so in theory the hydrocodone could linger longer and hit harder than expected. That might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, constipation, or in a worst case slowed breathing.

I want to be honest though: this is only seen in test-tube research and hasn't actually been reported in people, so the real-world risk is uncertain. There's also a separate, bigger concern. Ayahuasca acts like an MAOI, and mixing opioids with MAOIs can be genuinely dangerous. Please don't combine these without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.
