Opicapone falls under DOPAMINE AGONISTS — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might have additive effects when used with dopamine agonists.
Ayahuasca contains the beta-carboline constituent harmine. Animal research shows that harmine increases extracellular dopamine levels.

Here's the situation with opicapone (Ongentys). It doesn't get you more dopamine on its own. Instead, it blocks an enzyme (COMT) so the levodopa you take stays around longer and more of it reaches your brain. The end result is more dopamine activity for your Parkinson's symptoms.

Ayahuasca contains harmine, which in animal studies pushes dopamine levels up too. So putting the two together could, in theory, stack the dopamine effect. That might show up as worse nausea, dizziness, low blood pressure when you stand, trouble sleeping, or extra involuntary movements (dyskinesia). I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not solid human data. Separately, ayahuasca is an MAOI and can be genuinely dangerous, so please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything like this in.

Ongentys (opicapone) is used alongside levodopa/carbidopa to treat Parkinson's disease in adults who experience 'off' episodes — periods when medication wears off and Parkinson's symptoms return before the next dose is due.

It is not used alone. Ongentys works as an add-on to help levodopa stay active longer, reducing the time patients spend in these 'off' states.
