Preliminary clinical research shows that bay leaf can lower blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes who are already taking antidiabetes medication. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments may be necessary.

Here's the simple version: bay leaf, taken as a concentrated supplement, may nudge your blood sugar down a little on its own. Dapagliflozin (Farxiga) already works to lower blood sugar by helping you pass extra sugar in your urine. Stack the two together and the combined effect could push your numbers lower than you want.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on early research, not strong proof. The bay leaf you sprinkle in soup or a stew is very unlikely to cause any trouble. Still, watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, and check your glucose if you start a bay leaf supplement. What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Farxiga

Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
