Theoretically, betony might have additive effects with blood pressure lowering drugs due to hypotensive activity of the glycosides found in betony. It might also interfere with the activity of pressor drugs. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the simple version. Aprocitentan (Tryvio) is a blood pressure medicine used for high blood pressure that's tough to control. Betony is thought to have a mild blood-pressure-lowering quality of its own. Put the two together and, in theory, they could stack up and push your numbers down a little more than expected.

If that happened, you might notice things like dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling tired, or a headache, especially when you stand up quickly. I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical and based on how the herb might act, not on solid human studies, so for most people it may not amount to much. Since Tryvio is already used when blood pressure is hard to manage, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding betony, and keep an eye on your readings if you do.
