Theoretically, betony might have additive effects with blood pressure lowering drugs due to hypotensive activity of the glycosides found in betony. It might also interfere with the activity of pressor drugs. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Benzthiazide (Exna) is a thiazide-type water pill that lowers blood pressure by helping your body shed extra fluid and salt. Betony may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own, so pairing the two could, in theory, nudge your pressure down a little more than expected.

If that happens, you might notice things like feeling lightheaded, dizzy when you stand up, tired, or a bit faint. I want to be honest with you, though: this concern is theoretical and based on how betony behaves in the lab, not on solid human studies, so for most people it's unlikely to cause real trouble. Still, since you're managing blood pressure, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding betony, and keep an eye on your readings.
