Betony + Chlorthalidone
Chlorthalidone brand names: Hygroton, Thalitone.
Betony has a moderate interaction with Chlorthalidone. Theoretically, betony might have additive effects with blood pressure lowering drugs due to hypotensive activity of the glycosides found in betony.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Chlorthalidone
Chlorthalidone falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Betony interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: chlorthalidone is a water pill that already lowers your blood pressure. Betony may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own, so pairing the two could, in theory, push your numbers down a little more than expected. If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or woozy when you stand up, especially in the first week or in hot weather when you're already losing fluid.
I want to be honest about how soft this concern is. It rests on lab reasoning, not real human studies, so for most folks it's not a big deal. Still, keep an eye on how you feel, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding betony rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Chlorthalidone page
“Chlorthalidone (Hygroton, Thalitone) lowers blood pressure by helping the kidneys shed salt and water, and that mechanism makes its supplement interactions worth genuine care. Most of the 222 ingredients on file either add to its blood-pressure-lowering effect or act as diuretics themselves, so pressure or potassium can fall further th…”

About Betony
What is Betony?
- Headaches and tension
- Anxiety and nervous tension
- Digestive upset
- Sore throat and mouth rinse
- Mild diarrhea
Betony (Stachys officinalis) is a traditional European herb long used for headaches, nervous tension, and digestive complaints. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
About Chlorthalidone
