Betony + Mannitol
Mannitol brand names: Osmitrol, Bronchitol.
Betony has a moderate interaction with Mannitol. Theoretically, betony might have additive effects with blood pressure lowering drugs due to hypotensive activity of the glycosides found in betony.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Mannitol
Mannitol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Betony interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for betony and mannitol (Osmitrol). This is a theoretical concern only, based on how the herb behaves rather than real cases in people. Certain plant compounds (glycosides) in betony may gently nudge blood pressure downward. Mannitol is given in the hospital to pull fluid out of the body, lower pressure in the brain or eyes, or boost urine output, and as that fluid shifts, your blood pressure can dip too.
So in theory, stacking them could add up to a bigger drop, leaving you lightheaded or dizzy. Honestly, mannitol is used in monitored settings, so your team is already watching this closely. Still, mention any betony use to your doctor or pharmacist so nothing surprises them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Mannitol page
“American hellebore tops my worry list for anyone on mannitol (Osmitrol, Bronchitol), an osmotic diuretic used to draw fluid off the brain or, when inhaled, to clear mucus in cystic fibrosis. The plant's alkaloids drop blood pressure and slow the heart, a dangerous match for a drug that already shifts fluid and pressure quickly.”

About Betony
What is Betony?
- Headaches and tension
- Anxiety and nervous tension
- Digestive upset
- Sore throat and mouth rinse
- Mild diarrhea
Betony (Stachys officinalis) is a traditional European herb long used for headaches, nervous tension, and digestive complaints. Modern scientific evidence supporting these uses is very limited, and most claims rest on tradition rather than well-designed human studies. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Mannitol Is Linked to Lower Levels of 7 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Mannitol as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Betony — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
