Nalbuphine falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Biofeedback interacts with.

There is some concern that electroencephalogram (EEG) biofeedback might lower the seizure threshold in some patients. Theoretically, combining EEG biofeedback with seizure threshold-lowering drugs might increase the risk of seizure.
Some drugs that lower the seizure threshold include anesthetics (propofol, others), antiarrhythmics (mexiletine), antibiotics (amphotericin, penicillin, cephalosporins, imipenem), antidepressants (bupropion, others), antihistamines (cyproheptadine, others), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), narcotics (fentanyl, others), stimulants (methylphenidate), theophylline, and others.

Here's the gist: certain types of EEG biofeedback have been observed, in a small number of patients, to nudge the brain's seizure threshold a little lower (meaning seizures become slightly easier to trigger). Nalbuphine (Nubain), like other opioids, also carries a small ability to lower that threshold, especially at higher doses. So in theory, using the two together could add up and modestly raise seizure risk.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's largely theoretical and based on limited data, so most people won't run into trouble. Nalbuphine is given by a clinician for pain, so this isn't usually a daily self-care choice. Still, if you have a seizure history, mention the biofeedback to your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Nalbuphine Injection Used For?

Brand name: Nubain

Nalbuphine Hydrochloride Injection is used to manage pain severe enough to require an opioid when other pain treatments have not worked or cannot be tolerated. It is only appropriate when non-opioid options are inadequate.

It can also be used as part of balanced anesthesia during surgery, for pain relief before and after operations, and for pain management during labor and delivery.
