Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C8 (CYP2C8) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Benzphetamine
Benzphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C8 (CYP2C8) SUBSTRATES — the group Breadfruit interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with breadfruit and benzphetamine (Didrex), the prescription stimulant used for short-term weight loss. A compound in breadfruit called artocarpin can slow down a liver enzyme known as CYP2C8. Since benzphetamine relies partly on these enzymes to be cleared from your body, blocking them could let the drug linger longer and build up a bit. In theory that might mean stronger stimulant effects, things like a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge.
I want to be honest about how shaky this evidence is. It comes only from lab dish studies, not from real people, and it really applies to concentrated breadfruit leaf extracts, not eating breadfruit as food. So no need to panic. Still, if you're using breadfruit products medicinally, let your pharmacist or doctor know first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Benzphetamine page
“Benzphetamine (Didrex) is a stimulant appetite suppressant, and the supplements most likely to interfere with it are often the very products dieters reach for. Bulk-forming fibers like glucomannan can blunt its absorption from the gut, and activated charcoal, the single major-rated entry on this page, can meaningfully cut how much of t…”

About Breadfruit
What is Breadfruit?
- Source of nutrition and energy
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes and blood sugar support
- Inflammation and joint discomfort
- Skin conditions
Breadfruit is a starchy tropical fruit eaten as a staple food, and its leaves are used in traditional medicine for conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. As a food it is nutritious and generally safe, but the medicinal use of leaf teas or extracts has very little human research to back it up. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using breadfruit products for a health condition.
