Breadfruit + Captopril
Captopril brand names: Capoten, Acepril.
Breadfruit has a moderate interaction with Captopril. Theoretically, concomitant use with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Captopril
Captopril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Breadfruit interacts with.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: Captopril already works to bring your blood pressure down. Concentrated breadfruit leaf products (teas or extracts) may push in the same direction. In animal studies, breadfruit leaf extract slowed the heart rate and softened how hard the heart squeezed, which can lower blood pressure a bit further. Stack that on top of captopril and you could end up too low.
If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when you stand up. I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical concern from lab and animal work, not proven in people. Eating breadfruit as a food is generally fine. Before using leaf supplements, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Captopril page
“Anyone taking captopril (Capoten), an ACE inhibitor for high blood pressure and heart failure, should treat this list with genuine care rather than a quick skim. Most of the ingredients here act on blood pressure itself, some dropping it lower than intended and others, tyramine among them, pushing it back up and working against the med…”

About Breadfruit
What is Breadfruit?
- Source of nutrition and energy
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes and blood sugar support
- Inflammation and joint discomfort
- Skin conditions
Breadfruit is a starchy tropical fruit eaten as a staple food, and its leaves are used in traditional medicine for conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. As a food it is nutritious and generally safe, but the medicinal use of leaf teas or extracts has very little human research to back it up. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using breadfruit products for a health condition.
About Captopril
What Is Captopril Used For?
Brand names: Capoten, Acepril
Captopril tablets lower high blood pressure. They also treat heart failure, usually along with a diuretic (water pill) and digitalis.
Captopril tablets are also used after a heart attack in stable patients whose heart pumps weakly (left ventricular dysfunction). In people with type 1 diabetes and eye damage (retinopathy), they treat diabetic nephropathy (diabetes-related kidney disease with protein in the urine).

Captopril Is Linked to Lower Levels of 2 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Captopril as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Breadfruit — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
