Elagolix, Estradiol Norethindrone Acetate, Elagolix falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Breadfruit interacts with.

Theoretically, breadfruit might inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes; until more is known, use with caution. In vitro, the breadfruit constituent artocarpin can inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. Also, animal research shows that breadfruit leaf extract can weakly inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. However, it is unclear if this inhibitory activity causes a clinically meaningful effect on the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include amitriptyline (Elavil), amiodarone (Cordarone), citalopram (Celexa), felodipine (Plendil), lansoprazole (Prevacid), ondansetron (Zofran), prednisone (Deltasone), sertraline (Zoloft), and many others.

Here's the gist for Oriahnn (elagolix with estradiol and norethindrone). All three of these ingredients are partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab and animal studies hint that compounds in breadfruit might slow that enzyme down a little. If that happened in your body, these hormones could clear a bit more slowly and build up, which in theory could mean more of the usual side effects like headaches, hot flashes, nausea, mood changes, or breakthrough spotting.

The important part: this is only theoretical, based on test-tube and animal work, not real people, and it's rated as a minor concern. Eating breadfruit as food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated leaf teas or extracts are the bigger unknown, so check with your pharmacist before using those.

What Is Elagolix, Estradiol, and Norethindrone Used For?

Brand name: Oriahnn

Oriahnn is used to manage heavy menstrual bleeding linked to uterine leiomyomas — the medical name for fibroids, which are noncancerous growths in the uterus. It is approved for premenopausal women who experience abnormally heavy periods because of these fibroids.

Because the treatment can cause ongoing bone loss, it should be used for no more than 24 months. It is not a cure for fibroids — it manages symptoms while you are taking it.
