Amlodipine Benzoate falls under CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKERS — the group Calcium interacts with.

Intravenous calcium may decrease the effects of calcium channel blockers; oral calcium is unlikely to have this effect.
Intravenous calcium is used to decrease the effects of calcium channel blockers in the management of overdose. Intravenous calcium gluconate has been used before intravenous verapamil (Isoptin) to prevent or reduce the hypotensive effects without affecting the antiarrhythmic effects. But there is no evidence that dietary or supplemental calcium when taken orally interacts with calcium channel blockers.

Good news here: the calcium supplement you take by mouth for your bones is very unlikely to bump heads with your amlodipine (Katerzia). The concern on file is really about intravenous calcium given in a hospital, which doctors actually use on purpose to push back against calcium channel blockers in an overdose situation. That's a very different thing from a daily calcium tablet.

With ordinary food or supplement doses, there's no good evidence that calcium weakens amlodipine or interferes with how it lowers your blood pressure or eases chest pain. This is a theoretical, low-likelihood concern. Still, if you notice your blood pressure creeping up or more swelling in your ankles, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Amlodipine Used For?

Brand name: Katerzia

Amlodipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children aged 6–17 years. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Sdamlo (oral solution) is specifically indicated for hypertension in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older.

Amlodipine also treats coronary artery disease in adults, including chronic stable angina (chest pain with exertion), vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant angina, caused by coronary artery spasms), and documented coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or significantly reduced heart pumping function.
