Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Ibrexafungerp Citrate
Ibrexafungerp Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with.
In vitro and animal research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP3A4. In human studies and case reports, cannabidiol has been associated with an increase in plasma levels of the CYP3A4 substrates zonisamide, tacrolimus, everolimus, citalopram, midazolam, and methadone.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the short version for Brexafemme (ibrexafungerp): your liver clears this antifungal using an enzyme called CYP3A4. CBD can slow that same enzyme down, so the medicine may not get broken down as quickly and could build up a bit higher in your system than expected.
Practically, that might mean a greater chance of ibrexafungerp's usual side effects, like nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, or dizziness. The good news is that you typically take ibrexafungerp for just a day or two, so this isn't a long-term concern. Still, before you pair it with CBD, give your pharmacist or doctor a quick heads-up so they can confirm it's fine for you.
