In vitro evidence shows that the alkaloids quinine, quinidine, and cinchonine, constituents of cinchona, inhibit platelet aggregation.

Here's the short version: cangrelor (Kengreal) is a potent IV blood thinner given in the hospital, usually right around a heart procedure like a stent placement. Its whole job is to stop your platelets from clumping so blood doesn't clot. Cinchona bark contains quinine-type compounds that, in lab studies, also seem to slow platelets down a bit.

So in theory, stacking the two could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher (think bruising, oozing at the IV or catheter site, or harder-to-stop bleeding). Keep in mind this is theoretical, based only on test-tube data, not real patient reports. Honestly, cangrelor is only given under close hospital monitoring, so your care team controls this. Still, tell your doctor or pharmacist about any cinchona or quinine supplement before a procedure.
