Maprotiline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Cinchona interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cinchona might inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) and increase levels of drugs metabolized by this enzyme.
Quinidine, a constituent of cinchona, inhibits CYP2D6-mediated metabolism in humans.

Here's the gist with Ludiomil (maprotiline): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break it down and clear it out. Cinchona bark contains quinidine, which is a well-known blocker of that exact enzyme. So in theory, pairing the two could slow maprotiline's exit and let it build up in your system.

If levels climb, you might notice more of this drug's usual side effects, things like drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, or a faster heartbeat. At higher buildup, seizure risk can rise too, which is a known concern with maprotiline. I'll be honest, this interaction is theoretical and based on how the chemistry works, not on real-world reports. Still, since cinchona itself is unpredictable, please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
