Cinchona + Streptokinase
Streptokinase brand names: Kabikinase, Streptase.
Cinchona has a moderate interaction with Streptokinase. Theoretically, taking cinchona might increase the drug effects and risk of bleeding with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Streptokinase
Streptokinase falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Cinchona interacts with.
In vitro evidence shows that the alkaloids quinine, quinidine, and cinchonine, constituents of cinchona, inhibit platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Streptokinase is a powerful clot-busting medicine (a thrombolytic) given in the hospital for serious problems like heart attacks or major blood clots. It works fast and already raises your risk of bleeding on its own. Cinchona bark contains compounds (quinine, quinidine, and cinchonine) that may make your platelets less able to stick together and form clots.
Put those together and, in theory, you could bleed more easily. I'll be honest with you: this concern comes from lab studies, not real patient reports, so it's theoretical. Still, since streptokinase is given in emergencies, this isn't something to combine on your own. Please tell your doctor or pharmacist about any cinchona use before treatment.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Streptokinase page
“Streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase) is the clot-buster given in emergencies like heart attacks, and because its whole job is dissolving clots, this list warrants real respect. Of the 219 supplement and herbal ingredients with interactions on file, 202 have blood-thinning or antiplatelet activity that can push bleeding risk higher.”

About Cinchona
What is Cinchona?
- Malaria (historical/traditional)
- Fever
- Leg cramps and restless legs
- Digestive upset and loss of appetite
- Bitter tonic
Cinchona bark is the natural source of quinine and has been used for centuries to treat malaria and fever, but the bark itself is not standardized and can be unpredictable and risky. Modern medicine uses purified, dose-controlled quinine instead, and the supplement form carries real dangers, including serious heart and blood problems. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy.
