Ticagrelor falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Cnidium interacts with.

Laboratory research shows that osthol, a constituent of cnidium, inhibits blood clotting and the activity of platelets. Theoretically, cnidium might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the simple version: Brilinta (ticagrelor) already thins your blood by keeping platelets from sticking together, which is exactly how it prevents clots after a heart attack, stroke, or stent. Cnidium contains a compound called osthole that, in lab studies, also seems to slow platelets and clotting. So you'd essentially be stacking two blood thinners on top of each other.

The worry is extra bleeding: easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or harder-to-stop cuts, and rarely something more serious. I'll be honest, this concern comes only from test-tube and animal research, not human studies, so it's theoretical. Still, ticagrelor is a strong antiplatelet drug, so I wouldn't add concentrated cnidium supplements without first checking with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Ticagrelor Used For?

Ticagrelor tablets are used to lower the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attack, and stroke in adults who have had an acute coronary syndrome (ACS — a sudden reduction of blood flow to the heart) or a previous heart attack. They also reduce the risk of stent thrombosis (a blood clot forming in a coronary stent) in people stented during ACS treatment.

Ticagrelor tablets are also used to reduce the risk of a first heart attack or stroke in people with coronary artery disease (CAD) who are at high risk — including those with type 2 diabetes. Brilinta is additionally indicated to reduce the risk of stroke in adults with a mild acute ischemic stroke or a high-risk transient ischemic attack (TIA, sometimes called a "mini-stroke").
