Here's the thing to know with losartan (Cozaar) and coconut water. Losartan already lowers blood pressure, and small studies suggest coconut water can nudge blood pressure down a little too. Stack the two and you might dip lower than expected, which can leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or tired, especially when standing up quickly. This is a theoretical concern based on how they work, not a strong proven danger, so try not to panic.

There's one extra wrinkle: coconut water is rich in potassium, and losartan can already raise potassium levels. That combo matters more if you have kidney issues. An occasional glass is usually fine, but daily large amounts deserve a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor.

For most healthy people it is a safe, tasty beverage, but it is not a proven medicine and should not replace medical electrolyte solutions for serious dehydration. People with kidney disease or those on potassium-affecting medicines should check with their pharmacist or doctor first.

About Losartan

What Is Losartan Used For?

Brand name: Cozaar

Losartan tablets — available as branded Cozaar and several generic products — are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children 6 years and older. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Losartan tablets are also used to reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure who also have left ventricular hypertrophy (an enlarged left side of the heart). Note: evidence suggests this stroke-risk benefit may not apply to Black patients.

Losartan tablets are additionally approved to protect the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and signs of kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy). Arbli, the oral suspension form, shares these same approved uses.
