Corydalis Yanhusuo + Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Psuedoephedrine
Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Psuedoephedrine brand name: Aquatab C.
Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Psuedoephedrine falls into 3 drug categories that Corydalis Yanhusuo can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.

These two interact in 3 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 3 Interactions?
Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with whole categories of medication. Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Psuedoephedrine falls into 3 of those categories, so it can interact with Corydalis Yanhusuo in 3 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 3Why this applies to Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Psuedoephedrine
Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Psuedoephedrine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence show that berberine can inhibit CYP2D6. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP2D6.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Out of the three medicines in Aquatab C, the one that matters here is the dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to break it down. Corydalis may slow that enzyme a bit, so the dextromethorphan could clear more slowly and build up in your blood.
If that happens, you might feel more of its effects, like drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling a little foggy or off-balance. The good news is this is a theoretical concern, based mostly on lab data, not on strong human studies, so it may never cause a noticeable problem. Still, since combining them could add to the sleepy or spacey feeling, it is worth running it by your pharmacist or doctor before using both together.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 3Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Psuedoephedrine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with this cough and cold combo (Aquatab C). Corydalis may mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which helps clear part of the dextromethorphan portion. If that breakdown slows, dextromethorphan could build up a bit, meaning more chance of drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy. The guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine pieces aren't really affected by this pathway.
I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based mostly on lab work, not real patient reports. For most folks it likely won't cause trouble. Still, since Corydalis itself can be sedating and pseudoephedrine is a stimulant, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

DEXTROMETHORPHAN (Robitussin DM, others)
3 of 3Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Preliminary clinical research shows that berberine can inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity and reduce the metabolism of dextromethorphan. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo may also inhibit the metabolism of dextromethorphan.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the practical takeaway for your Aquatab C. Of its three ingredients, the one that matters here is dextromethorphan, the cough suppressant. Your body normally clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Corydalis contains berberine, which may slow that enzyme down. If it does, dextromethorphan can build up a bit more than usual, so you might feel more of its effects, things like drowsiness, dizziness, or a slightly foggy feeling.
Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not on real-world cases, so for most people it's likely mild. The guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine aren't affected. Still, since dosing varies, it's worth running this combo past your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.
