Here's the gist for anyone giving Fintepla (fenfluramine) to a child with Dravet or Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Corydalis yanhusuo contains plant compounds that, in lab and animal studies, seem to have calming, sleep-promoting effects on the brain. Fenfluramine itself can cause drowsiness, tiredness, and sometimes trouble with balance or coordination. Stacking a sedating herb on top of it could, in theory, deepen that sleepiness.

I want to be straight with you: this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not on real human cases with this exact pairing. Still, since fenfluramine is a serious seizure medicine, I wouldn't add corydalis on your own. Please run it by your child's neurologist or pharmacist first.

What Is Fenfluramine Used For?

Brand name: Fintepla

Fintepla (fenfluramine oral solution) is approved to treat seizures associated with Dravet syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in patients 2 years of age and older. It is used alongside other antiseizure medications.

Both conditions are severe, often hard-to-control forms of epilepsy that typically begin in childhood. Fintepla is available only through a restricted program called the Fintepla REMS because of serious heart-related risks.
