Here's the gist of it: your body partly clears galantamine through a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Corydalis (which contains berberine) may slow that enzyme down. If galantamine is broken down more slowly, more of it can hang around in your system, which can strengthen its effects and the side effects that come with it.

For galantamine, that could mean more nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, loss of appetite, or a slower heart rate. I want to be honest, though: this concern is theoretical, based on lab work and how these compounds behave, not on solid human studies pairing these two. It may never cause a problem, but since it could, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than changing anything on your own.

Here's the gist for your Razadyne ER (galantamine). Part of how your body clears this drug runs through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Corydalis yanhusuo (and the berberine it contains) may gently slow that enzyme down. If galantamine clears more slowly, a little extra can build up in your system over time.

Galantamine isn't a prodrug, so more drug hanging around generally means stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, a slow heartbeat, or feeling lightheaded. The good news: this warning is theoretical, based mostly on lab work rather than real patient cases, so it may never cause you trouble. Still, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
