Gilteritinib Fumarate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for Xospata (gilteritinib): your liver relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this leukemia medicine from your body. Corydalis contains berberine, which lab and early human studies suggest can mildly slow that same enzyme. If it does, gilteritinib could clear a bit more slowly and build up, which might mean stronger side effects like nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle or joint pain, or changes in your heart rhythm (QT prolongation).

I want to be honest though, this concern is theoretical, based mostly on how berberine behaves in test tubes rather than real patients on this drug. Still, with a serious cancer treatment, I'd play it safe. Please check with your oncology team or pharmacist before adding Corydalis.

What Is Gilteritinib Used For?

Brand name: Xospata

Xospata (gilteritinib) is used to treat adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a fast-growing blood cancer — when the cancer has come back after treatment (relapsed) or stopped responding to treatment (refractory). It is only for patients whose leukemia cells carry a specific genetic change called a FLT3 mutation, which must be confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.
