Here's the short version: Vildagliptin already works to bring your blood sugar down, and some animal studies hint that damiana may nudge blood sugar lower too. Put them together and there's a theoretical chance your levels could dip more than expected, which we call hypoglycemia. On its own, vildagliptin rarely causes low blood sugar, so this isn't a high-alarm situation.

Still, it's worth knowing the warning signs of a low: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling foggy. This concern is based on lab and animal data, not strong human studies, so I wouldn't panic. If you'd like to try damiana, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your readings when you start.
