Here is a little wrinkle worth knowing. The interaction in our records is really about damiana and blood-sugar-lowering medicines, like insulin or pills for type 2 diabetes. Glucose itself is the opposite. It is sugar given to raise blood sugar, often used to treat a low. So damiana does not get broken down or blocked by glucose, and glucose does not change how damiana works.

The one thing to keep in mind: animal studies hint that damiana may nudge blood sugar downward. If someone is using glucose to fix a low blood sugar, an herb that lowers sugar could in theory work against that goal. This is only a theory, not proven in people. If you treat lows often, mention the damiana to your pharmacist or doctor.
