Here's the gist with Onglyza (saxagliptin) and damiana: this herb may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. So in theory, pairing the two could nudge your sugar a little lower than the medicine alone, raising the chance of hypoglycemia. With saxagliptin that usually looks like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or feeling foggy, and the risk goes up if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea.

I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from animal studies, not solid human research, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. A bit of damiana tea is unlikely to cause trouble. If you use concentrated supplements, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your readings.
