Almotriptan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the gist for your migraine medicine, almotriptan. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break it down and clear it from your body. There's some early, mostly anecdotal evidence that DHEA may slow that enzyme down a little. If that happens, almotriptan could hang around longer than usual, which in theory might nudge up its effects and side effects, things like tingling, flushing, a tight or heavy feeling in the chest or throat, dizziness, or drowsiness.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern and we really don't know if it matters in real life. Almotriptan isn't a prodrug, so it works as-is and doesn't need activating. Still, it's worth mentioning DHEA to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you feel.

About Almotriptan

What Is Almotriptan Used For?

Brand names: Axert, Almogran

Almotriptan tablets are used to treat migraine headache attacks — with or without aura — as they happen. They are not for preventing migraines before they start.

In adults, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine attacks. In adolescents ages 12 to 17, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine headache pain in those who typically have attacks lasting 4 hours or more when untreated. Note that in adolescents, the effect on migraine-related symptoms such as nausea and light sensitivity was not established in clinical trials. Almotriptan is not indicated for cluster headache or for hemiplegic or basilar migraine.
