Fluoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Diosmin interacts with.

Theoretically, diosmin might inhibit the metabolism of CYP2C9 substrates.
Diclofenac is metabolized by CYP2C9 enzymes. Clinical and laboratory research shows that diosmin inhibits the metabolism of diclofenac. A pharmacokinetic study in humans shows that taking diosmin (Venex 500) 500 mg daily for 9 days prior to oral administration of diclofenac 100 mg increases blood levels of diclofenac and decreases diclofenac clearance.

Here's the gist for fluoxetine (Prozac): diosmin may slow down one of the liver enzymes (called CYP2C9) that helps break some medications down. In theory, that could let a little more fluoxetine linger in your system. Fluoxetine is an active drug, not a prodrug, so more of it generally means a stronger effect and possibly more side effects like nausea, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or headache.

I want to be honest about how thin this is. This concern is purely theoretical, based on lab work and a small study using a different drug (diclofenac), not fluoxetine itself. Fluoxetine actually leans more on other enzymes too, so any real-world bump is likely small. Still, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor before you start diosmin.

Diosmin is a citrus-derived flavonoid most often used for vein-related problems such as chronic venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids, and it is usually combined with a related flavonoid called hesperidin. Fluoxetine is approved to treat four conditions: major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa (a binge-eating and purging disorder), and panic disorder — with or without agoraphobia (fear of situations that feel hard to escape).

It works for adults across all four conditions, and for children and teens with depression (ages 8–18) and OCD (ages 7–17).
