Ropivacaine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Grapefruit interacts with.

Theoretically, grapefruit juice might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research suggests that grapefruit juice might inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here is the practical side of this one. Ropivacaine (Naropin) is a local anesthetic, the kind of numbing medicine given during surgery, labor, or a nerve block. Your liver clears it partly through an enzyme called CYP1A2. Grapefruit may slow that enzyme down a little, which in theory could let ropivacaine build up and linger longer than expected.

The good news: this is only suggested by lab (test-tube) studies and has not been reported in real patients. Also, ropivacaine is usually given by a healthcare team in a controlled setting, not something you dose yourself with food. If a large amount built up, you might see signs like dizziness, ringing in the ears, numbness around the mouth, or an irregular heartbeat. Honestly, for most people enjoying grapefruit normally, this is very low risk. Still, it is worth mentioning to your anesthesia provider or pharmacist.
