Carisoprodol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP2C19. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Soma (carisoprodol) and hibiscus. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to help break carisoprodol down. Lab studies in a test tube suggest that concentrated hibiscus extract might slow that enzyme a bit. If that happened in real life, carisoprodol could hang around longer and feel stronger, meaning more drowsiness, dizziness, or grogginess than usual.

The important part: this is only a theoretical concern based on lab work, and it has never actually been reported in people. A cup or two of tart hibiscus tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplement doses are where I'd be a little more cautious. If you're using both, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you feel.

Carisoprodol tablets — sold under the brand name Soma, as well as generic versions — are used to relieve discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions in adults. Think short-term muscle pain and stiffness from things like lower back injuries.

This medication is intended only for short-term use — up to two or three weeks. It has not been proven effective for longer-term use, and the muscle conditions it treats are generally short-lived by nature.
