Duvelisib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Your body clears duvelisib mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, concentrated hibiscus extract appears to slow that same enzyme down a bit. The theory is that, if it did the same thing in people, duvelisib could clear more slowly and build up to higher levels in your blood, which could mean stronger effects and more side effects like diarrhea, infections, low blood counts, liver irritation, or skin reactions.

Here's the honest part: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube research, and it has not been seen in real patients. A cup of tart hibiscus tea now and then is unlikely to matter much, but concentrated supplements are harder to predict. Since duvelisib is a serious cancer drug, please run any hibiscus product past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

What Is Duvelisib Used For?

Brand name: Copiktra

Copiktra (duvelisib) is used in adults with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) — meaning the cancer has returned or stopped responding to treatment — after at least two prior therapies.

Copiktra is also used for relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) after at least two prior systemic therapies. The follicular lymphoma approval is based on overall response rate and is considered an accelerated approval; continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory trials. Copiktra is not intended for use as a first- or second-line treatment for any of these cancers.
