Entrectinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear entrectinib (Rozlytrek). In a lab dish, hibiscus extract slowed that same enzyme down a bit. If that happened in your body, entrectinib could clear a little more slowly and build up, which might nudge up its side effects like dizziness, fatigue, swelling, constipation, weight gain, or changes in your heart rhythm.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube research, and it has not been reported in real people. A cup of hibiscus tea is unlikely to matter much, while concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark. Since entrectinib is a serious cancer medicine, please run any hibiscus supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What Is Entrectinib Used For?

Brand name: Rozlytrek

Rozlytrek (entrectinib) is used to treat adult patients with ROS1-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as confirmed by an FDA-approved test. It is also approved for adult and pediatric patients older than 1 month of age who have solid tumors — any cancer type — that carry an NTRK gene fusion detected by an FDA-approved test, provided the tumor has no known acquired resistance mutation, is metastatic or cannot be surgically removed without severe harm, and has progressed after prior treatment or has no satisfactory alternative therapy.

The NTRK gene fusion approval in solid tumors was granted under accelerated approval, meaning it is based on tumor response rates. Continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory clinical trials.
